President Donald Trump has replaced the IRS interim commissioner a few days after he appointed him.
The new interim boss is the Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Michael Faulkender, according to a statement on Friday of the Treasury Secretary, Scott Besent.
“Trust must be returned to the IRS, and I am completely sure that Undersecretary Michael Faulkender is the right man at the moment,” Besent said.

“Gary Shapley’s passion and consideration for addressing the ways to create lasting and durable reforms in the IRS is essential for our work, and he remains among my most important advisors in the United States Treasury while we work together to rethink and reform the IRS,” Bessent added.
“After Gary and Joseph Ziegler complete their research ongoing, I intend to appoint them for senior roles in the IRS or the treasure of the United States that will guarantee that the results of their research translate into significant policy changes.”
